62% of women of child-bearing age in Kenya are economically active.

However, this shift in women’s economic empowerment has come at a price. As Kenyan mothers return to work - usually less than three months postpartum - they are met with workplaces that are impractical or unaccommodating for breastfeeding.

More than half of Kenyan mothers are aware of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding yet many feel they have no choice when it comes to choosing between their income and their baby’s health.
