Community Breastfeeding Ambassadors
What we do
Maziwa’s Community Breastfeeding Ambassador (CBA) program supports women through peer education, to democratize access to hands-on lactation support and tackle common myths and cultural perceptions about breastfeeding. They provide pro bono mother-to-mother support groups for lower-income communities.
Who we train
Maziwa’s CBAs are influential and passionate breastfeeding mothers and/or Community Health Volunteers, who are trained by our in-house lactation educator to become breastfeeding champions within their community.
How we recruit
We work with local governments and NGO partners to recruit and train CBAs, who are passionate about breastfeeding and influential in their communities. This provides additional income-generating opportunities for these women.
